Horned frog

FROGSS WITH horned Ceratophrys are strange South American frogs found east of the Andes. When they sit with their small, muscular legs tucked in, they are practically spherical. With a blunt snout and very wide jaws, the head is big and arches high. The pupils are horizontal and the eyes are placed high. The ‘horns’ are delicate, pointy, and even slightly curved extensions of the upper eyelid. The tiniest of all Horned frogs are around the size of a bottle cap, with the largest filling a large soup bowl. They have a warty skin that resembles that of a toad. Many species have a distinctive blotch or bar pattern, and others are brightly coloured. They can attack and bite viciously when irritated, and their long teeth can inflict a severe wound, leading to the assumption that they are venomous. Frogs and mice are their main sources of food, which they cram into their large mouths with their strong forelimbs. CLASS: Amphibia, FAMILY: Leptodactylidae, ORDER: Anura, FAMILY:
