MARABOU
MARABOU The stork Leptoptilos crunmeniferus has a big pointed bill and is a very large bird. It has a slaty upperbody, long legs, and an almost featherless head and neck (the latter with a long distensible pouch of pink skin). Although the adjutant L. dubius of Southern Asia is similar, it is only found in Africa. It breeds in groups, constructing enormous nests on large trees, typically in communities. Carrion and offal are its favourite foods, although it will also catch small animals.
Marabou Soar majestically, stalk on open ground, and perch, somewhat grotesquely, on the uppermost boughs of trees with a wing span of up to 8 ft (2.6 m). They’re around 4 feet (12 inches) tall. CLASS: Aves, FAMILY: Ciconiidae, ORDER: Ciconil-formes,
