LORIKEET

Loriculus, the smaller species of Lory and the hanging parrots, or bat parrots, are known as LORIKEETS. The size distinction between lories and lorikeets is only for convenience and does not reflect true relationships. The plumage is mostly green, with red and blue flecks here and there. Glossopsitta is an Australian genus of three lorikeets that are 51 8 in (14–20 cm) long and have primarily green plumage with short tails. All three have the same red and yellow plumage patterns, as well as the purple-crowned patch on the crown. They eat lorikeets (G. porphyrocephala), which produce dark blue nectar and pollen, as well as fruit.

Lorikeets are the most common name for hanging parrots, often known as bat parrots. They are little to extremely small green-plumed parrots that feed mostly on blooming tree nectar and pollen.
